Bathroom/Paint and refresh for summer

Bathroom re fresh, I didn't want to say it was a makeover or remodel.
Just a good cleaning and changed out a few things.

BEFORE

Remove everything that isn't attached.

I cleaned, scrubbed took
down light covers, dusted and gave the trim a new
coat of paint.
The trim was peeling when I moved in over 6 years ago
It was time for
a fresh coat of paint.
The only downside
was the previous
homeowners did
not leave any spare

paint. I wasn't sure
about the color. I love
chippy white paint and that's what I went with.

No one bought these .50 cent frames at my yard sale. I decided to get out my
favorite paint and give them a makeover. I added some paper and vinyl and now
have new art.
I added note cards as art, painted the frames and the mat
 to match

No one bought this either I had a dollar on it. It just needed a good wash
( I decided later on not to use it)
AFTER

not fancy, just clean ready for summer

no one bought the little silver tray either, lucky for me

Not bad for free!

TOTAL COST: 0. ELBOW GREASE, REUSE, RE CYCLE. HOPE YOU LIKE IT!

Repurpose, reuse, keep it out of the landfill #1

I made these years ago I  still have them and use them every summer.

I found this old outdoor lamp at the Goodwill for a few dollars,
I took it apart, washed all the pieces even the ones I didn't need. I may need them for another project later. I spray painted them a mossy green, made a wooden bottom added  a flame less candle and now I have 2 new lamps for the back porch
for a few dollars and little work.

Sometimes the best treasure is under our feet

Sometimes the best treasure is under our feet, or in your pantry. I was looking for a plate/bowl to put fruit on
and found my mom's platter. I thought I should wash it since it has been in the pantry for a while. I flipped it over and found this.

I think she probably received it as a wedding gift back in the 50's.  I'm not going to hang it on the wall or put it in a china cabinet. I'm going to do what I do with all my other pieces and use it. If it breaks I will make something else out of it. Excited to find such a treasure. I'll probably be spending the day  flipping over every plate in the kitchen.

Spring is in the Air

Spring...the air is cold, the smell of earth and rain. Spring isn't my favorite time of year but you get a present everyday. Color popping up all around us.

Crocus is the first in my garden to surprise me on a cold winter day. I'm not going to share the Latin names for all the plants I would be in google land for the rest of my life. I don't even know what variety these are but I do know crocus is in the same family as Iris.
The stone is from an old church that was torn down in Nashville.  Hyacinth's and daffodils will bloom in almost any condition
Grape hyacinth, I can never get a good picture of these, they must be camera shy.
